Booking and prices
How do I book, and what does it cost?
Bookings are made online only, through this site: pick a room or an offer, choose a date and time (free slots are marked green), enter the number of people and confirm your booking. You pay on the day. The standard price scale for escape rooms and VR escape rooms is 89 € for 2 people, 108 € for 3 people, 120 € for 4 people, 135 € for 5 people, 156 € for 6 people, and from 7 people 182 € plus 26 € for each additional person. In Combo Mode (from 8 people) you pay 26 € per person. Escape The Worlds is an XXL format for 3 to 8 people and costs 216 to 416 € in total. The Ubisoft rooms Pyramid and Medusa have specific team sizes; please check the individual offer page.
Can I book by phone?
No, all bookings go through our website. You can phone us with questions Monday to Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm, often by callback.
Do I have to pay in advance?
No. Every booking works like a binding reservation: nothing is paid in advance, and you pay on the day, based on the people who actually turn up. You can pay with cash, debit card, PayPal, credit card, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay at the card reader. Payment by invoice is available for companies, institutions and school groups when needed. Private groups normally pay on site. We create it after you have played and send it by email. Exception: for a purchased voucher you get the invoice right away with the purchase.
How far ahead can I book online?
Regular online slots can be booked up to 72 hours before the start, or 96 hours for combos with three or four rooms. Within these periods, bookings go through a short-notice request, which we confirm if it works. Our advice: book a regular slot in good time, then your slot is fixed straight away.
How does a short-notice request work?
You pick a room and a time in the calendar (short-notice slots are marked orange) and that sends us a request. If it works for us, you’ll get a confirmation email with your ticket. Once we confirm, the booking is binding: if you cancel afterwards or do not show up, it costs 75 € per room when there are less than 48 hours until your slot (for short-notice slots, almost always). Please only set off once you have our ticket, and check your spam folder. If we do not confirm, the request costs you nothing. We charge short-notice requests from 3 paying people.
When can I cancel?
Cancelling is free of charge up to 48 hours before your slot, by email, through the contact form or via the link in your booking confirmation (unfortunately not by phone). If you cancel less than 48 hours before, there’s a charge of 75 € per room.
I got kicked out while booking and the slot has suddenly gone.
That isn’t a technical fault. When someone starts a booking and abandons it, the slot is held for a short time as a safeguard, so nobody else can grab it at the same moment. Wait a few minutes and try again.
Which slots are still free? Is there an overview of dates?
You want one particular slot, you have already tried under “Book a slot” and almost everything is booked up? The overview of all free slots might help. For slots less than 72 hours (3 days) ahead, you can try your luck with a short-notice request.
How it works and our rooms
What is an escape room?
In an escape room you race the clock as a team in themed rooms, find hidden objects, solve exciting puzzles and uncover secrets found nowhere else. In 60 minutes you live through an adventurous story. The whole time, a game master keeps an eye on you and can give you hints if you need them.
How long does a visit take?
Classic escape rooms and VR escape rooms take about 80 minutes in total (up to 60 minutes of playing time plus the briefing and a photo). Combo Mode takes about 90 minutes. Escape The Worlds is an XXL format of about 140 minutes in total.
When should I arrive?
Arrive on time for your start time, 5 minutes early at most. If you’re up to 15 minutes late, we don’t charge anything. If you’re later than that, you can choose between the full playing time for 15 € per room for every 15 minutes started, or a correspondingly shorter game at no extra charge. Full playing time is only available if no following group is waiting and our team can stay longer. Otherwise, playing time is shortened at no extra charge. If you’re still not here 45 minutes after the start and haven’t let us know, it counts as a no-show (75 € per room). If you can see you’ll be late, please let us know by email.
Are we locked in the escape room?
No. Doors in the direction of escape aren’t locked here, so you can always get out using the door handle. A game master follows you by video and audio and can give you hints if you need them.
Is it scary?
No. The rooms are meant to thrill you and be fun, not to frighten you. We’ll tell you beforehand about any special rooms (the Medieval Room, for example, is a little darker).
What is the fun guarantee?
If, against all expectations, you’re not enjoying yourselves within the first 10 minutes, you can stop and leave without paying. No fun, no money! If you paid with a voucher, we credit the amount back to your voucher code or issue a new voucher (no cash payout).
Can we take photos in the room?
Not in the playing room, as smartphones are switched off there. At the end we take a success photo together.
Is there anything to drink?
Soft drinks are available before and after the game for 2 € each. In the playing room only water in bottles with secure lids is allowed.
What happens if we can't solve the puzzles?
Don't worry! Our puzzles are challenging, but every one of them can be solved and they have been tested thoroughly. Of course we are happy to help with hints if the game ever stalls. If you don't make it in time, we gladly take a few minutes afterwards to explain the puzzles to you.
Is the game an IQ test?
No. Even though we set ourselves a certain standard and the success rate isn't 100%, that doesn't mean not everyone can join in. For us the focus is on fun and on living the story and atmosphere together as a team. It takes the whole group, not an individual IQ, hero or lone fighter, which is why the minimum number of players is 2. If you get stuck, our game masters, who watch the game on camera the whole time, will give you a hint.
What is the best number of players?
The rooms at Escape Hannover can be played by teams of two to six, or eight, people. In our experience 4 to 6 players per room is ideal for really good team dynamics. Of course two dedicated escapers can crack the rooms as well.
Our rooms can be combined, so larger groups (e.g. team and company events) can play with us too. In that case you play in parallel in “Combo Mode”, all starting at the same time with 60 minutes each.
Are your rooms air-conditioned?
Our rooms have modern air conditioning and fans, so you can keep a cool head for your puzzle adventure even when it is hot outside.
Do you have flyers?
Yes! You are welcome to pick them up from us on site, or download the flyer here (German)!
Age, children and accessibility
From what age can you play?
The rooms are designed for mixed groups of all ages. Children under 10 play for free, but need one adult in the room per child, and at least 2 people over 10 must be in the group. Up to age 16 an adult supervisor must be present. The age guidelines for the rooms are recommendations for the average age of the group. The Bitcoin Conspiracy is a pro-level room and recommended from 14 years old.
Do you have anything for children’s birthday parties?
Yes, the Kids Special in Harry's School of Magic for 2 to 7 children (at least 3 are charged, and one accompanying adult gets in free). You’ll find more on the Kids Specials page.
From what age is VR possible?
We recommend our VR escape rooms and VR adventure worlds from age 10. With VR, body height matters more than age; the VR adventure worlds often work from about 7 or 8. Between 10 and 16 an adult supervisor is required, and for VR they’re free as long as they only watch. The Ubisoft rooms Pyramid and Medusa are only suitable from a height of 150 cm.
Is the location accessible?
Unfortunately not: we’re on the 2nd floor up many stairs with no lift, so we aren’t accessible for wheelchair users. If you have questions beforehand, please drop us an email and we’ll work something out individually.
Am I not too old / too young for this?
You can never be too old for fun and joy in life, can you? ;-) Our offer is aimed squarely at adults who have kept their curiosity or want to rediscover the child within. Of course we also love having children and teenagers who lead the way with a good nose for clues and want to crack exciting puzzles. You'll find the exact supervision rules for our young guests under 16 on each offer's page.
Groups, vouchers and getting here
What is Combo Mode?
For groups of 8 or more, several rooms play in parallel at the same start time (2-room combo 8 to 15, 3-room combo 15 to 22, 4-room combo 21 to 28 people, 26 € per person in each case). Below 8 people there’s no Combo Mode. You’ll find more under large groups. The highest combo participant numbers are exceptional capacities with less space per person. Regular limits for individual room bookings remain unchanged.
There are more than 28 of us. Is that possible?
Yes, in several rounds one after the other, each as a Combo Mode. The next round starts about 2 hours after the previous one. Have a look at the large groups page or drop us a line.
How long are vouchers valid, and where can I redeem them?
Value vouchers are valid until the end of the third year after the year of purchase and can be redeemed at all our locations, so in Leipzig and Nienburg too. If the voucher value is higher than the booking price, the rest stays on the code. One value voucher can be applied per online booking, and any others you bring along on the day and we’ll deduct them on site. Vouchers bought online come by email. We can also post them to you for €12. By arrangement by email you can also pick a voucher up here. You’ll find more on the vouchers page.
Where can you find us, and where can I park?
Goseriede 4, in the Tiedthof, courtyard entrance D, 30159 Hannover, about 5 minutes on foot from the main station. At entrance D, go past the café on your left, keep left in the courtyard and follow the ESCAPE sign. There are paid car parks nearby, for example the Ernst-August-Galerie. There’s no free parking.
When are you open?
Daily from 9 am to 9 pm. That’s our opening time and not the limit for start times: online booking shows which slots are free. We’re closed on 24.12., 25.12., 26.12. and 01.01.
How can I apply to work with you?
You’ll find current vacancies on our About us page or by searching Indeed for “Escape Hannover”. We’re happy to receive speculative applications by email at info@escapehannover.de.
We are a school class / a non-profit club / a social institution. Are there special conditions?
Yes. Alongside the team-building side of our escape games, we also want to make a social and charitable contribution, and give a 5 € discount per person to the following groups: school classes, non-profit clubs and social institutions (if they show proof when they arrive). In addition, one supervisor per room gets in free.
